Todd Bell will review key decisions from the Court of Appeal over the last year – including the first appellate treatment on tracing methodology, summarize important recent developments in property division, and address the sanctity (or not) of written agreements.
About Todd Bell: Todd Bell is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer. He also mediates, arbitrates, and settles matters through various forms of agreement. Todd has wide-ranging courtroom experience spanning all levels of Court in British Columbia. Todd’s practice areas include the division of high-networth
assets including complex corporate structures, trusts, real estate, and pensions. He regularly litigates high income determinations and has written extensively on the subject. His practice includes difficult parenting and custody disputes, as well as obtaining emergency protection relief from family
violence.

This course introduces participants to the theory and practice of negotiation and mediation. It will provide
students with an understanding of the nature and source of conflict in the context of family dispute
resolution and the role and objectives of the neutral facilitator, including why some negotiations and
mediations fail; and insight and skills to enhance their experience when participating as a neutral.
